Raw Materials

Raw Materials draws upon finding beauty within fragile details during dystopian times. I focus on plant life and natural ephemera as symbols of femininity, embodying care, patience, and nurturing. Transformation is a natural part of existence, and I witness as these objects tell a story of time passing, and begin to deteriorate. Decay is a transition, revealing intricate details that might be overlooked in perfection.

I find femininity in this process in that the objects I observe are both emblematic of resilience and a target for control. As systems begin to break down, that control is performatively dismantled. The relics that survive are both precious and responsive. Ultimately, whether femininity is oppressed or weaponized, it persists, proving that even in the bleakest landscapes, creation and strength endure.
